Lane and street closures: Big Sioux Falls projects about to start
Work includes highway interchanges and major street corridors
Construction on what will become the largest intersection in the state of South Dakota will begin within the next couple of weeks, and commuters are going to feel it.
Arrowhead Parkway east of Veterans Parkway will be closed for the duration of the 2025 construction season starting in early spring. Work on the project will continue into 2026 – the expected conclusion at the end of 2026.
When it’s said and done, the finished product is expected to make driving through the area much less congested, making the pain of short-term inconvenience worth the long-term benefits. Tony Ondricek, the principal engineer for the city, said signage would soon go up in the area alerting motorists.
