Joe Gordon, 82, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Salem passed away April 8, 2025 at Touchmark at All Saints in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota followed by a luncheon then burial at Rosehill Cemetery in Parker. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.
Joe Gordon was born on April 15, 1942 to Henry and Margorie (Gleich) Gordon near Montrose, SD. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Montrose High School. After graduation he went to work for Dual Manufacturing in Sioux Falls. On April 15, 1963 he married Janice Letsche in Parker, SD. He later went to work at Feterl Manufacturing in Salem where he worked for many years until his retirement. After retiring he managed the St. Mary’s Apartments and worked at the Salem Farmer’s Market. Joe loved working with his hands making things from wood which led to his business, J and J crafts, which he ran as a hobby. He and Janice loved to go camping and spending time with family.
Joe is survived by: his children, Russell (Stacy) Gordon of San Antonio, TX, Carol (Michael) Wickham of Baltic, SD, Daniel (LeeAnne) Gordon of Mesa, AZ, and Darrell (Rebekah) Gordon of Riverton, WY; grandchildren, Ashley Gordon, Anthony Gordon, Michelle Holden, Joe Gordon, and Rebecca Long; bonus grandchildren, Elijah, Matthew, Nathan, Samantha, and Quinn; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Astryd, Zaiden, Daxton, and Ashton; bonus great-grandchildren, Crystalyn, Isabella, Sasha, and Shai; siblings, Peggy Jesse and Dick (Marlene) Gordon; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Jerry Jesse, sister, Mary Bassett, brother and sister-in-law, William and LaDeen Gordon, brother-in-law, Vincent “Doots” Jesse, infant brother, Robert, grandson, Matthew Gordon and nephews, Kevin Jesse and Bobby Ellis
