Off-duty corrections officers at the South Dakota State Penitentiary have been called into action amid an ongoing disturbance involving inmates at the Sioux Falls prison.
Staff injuries are being reported Wednesday evening at the men’s correctional facility.
Neither the Department of Corrections nor the governor's office are providing details yet, but multiple sources of The Dakota Scout say unrest among prisoners has led to inmates in what’s known as the East Hall refusing to enter their cells.
