House of horrors: Sioux Falls couple had to leave because of infestation
Property manager sought back rent even though girls attacked by bats
A Sioux Falls couple that endured a bat infestation, including alleged attacks on their daughters, have filed suit against the property owner and its manager, arguing they are responsible for driving them out of their home.
Ultimately, Patrick McGirr and Deanna Fresquez were required to seek expensive and painful rabies treatments for the two girls, Ruby and Lucy, after they encountered a bloody bat. The girls came running out of their playroom after the bat showed up in their toys.
“The bat’s blood soaked into plaintiffs Lucy’s and Ruby’s toys and clothes, and as result, Plaintiffs had to discard many of plaintiffs Lucy’s and Ruby’s personal belongings,” the lawsuit alleges. “Plaintiffs were informed that they immediately needed to receive a rabies vaccine due to their exposure to the bats’ feces, blood and bat flees.”
