Coalition formed in hopes of blocking passage of Initiated Measure 28

Some of South Dakota’s most influential special interest groups are joining forces in hopes of stopping a proposed food tax cut from passage this fall.
Organizations like the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, South Dakota Cooperatives, the state banking association, the education lobby, the tourist industry, and agriculture groups like the cattlemen’s association and the Farm Bureau Federation have formed a coalition in opposition to Initiated Measure 28.
Federal judge declines to intervene in South Dakota abortion lawsuit
A federal judge is declining to intervene in a state court action brought to invalidate petitions for a ballot issue legalizing abortion in South Dakota. But Judge Karen Schreier is also leaving open the door that the federal courts could review any state action that conflicts with prior federal rulings.
