Gov. Noem won't say what education shakeup means for re-write of South Dakota's social study standards
Tiffany Sanderson headed to Lake Area Technical College
Gov. Kristi Noem is dealing with turnover in the Education Department as the state looks to adopt new social studies standards. But she’s not talking about what the departure of a key cabinet member means for the ongoing overhaul.
South Dakota Education Secretary Tiffany Sanderson is leaving state government to take over as president at Lake Area Technical College, the school announced in late November. Sanderson was a policy advisor in the governor’s office before becoming secretary of education.
She’ll succeed outgoing President Mike Cartney, who is retiring at year’s end after eight years at the helm of the Watertown college.
