Gov. Noem appoints Aberdeen lawyer to Fifth Circuit Court
Julie Dvorak will serve as state judge in northeast South Dakota
Aberdeen lawyer Julie Dvorak has been appointed by Gov. Kristi Noem to serve as a judge on South Dakota’s Fifth Circuit Court.
Dvorak has been a part of the Siegel, Barnett & Schutz firm in private practice since her graduation from the University of South Dakota law school. Prior to USD, Dvorak attended Northern State University.

“It is the job of South Dakota’s courts to uphold the Constitution,” Noem said. “I am confident that Julie will do so, and she will serve with honor and integrity in this new role.”
Dvorak’s legal work has extended beyond private practice — in addition, she has been an active member with the South Dakota State Bar Association, serving as a bar commissioner and on various committees within the state bar.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected by Gov. Noem to serve as a circuit court judge,” Dvorak said in a statement. “I look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact within the judicial system.”
The Fifth Circuit Court is in northeastern South Dakota and is made up of 10 counties.
