Gov. Kristi Noem says she asked Trump for Homeland Security post
South Dakota governor ready to 'hit the ground running and make a real difference'
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem requested the cabinet position of Homeland Security secretary in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration before her new boss announced the nomination earlier this week.
That’s according to the governor, who said Wednesday that her selection to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) came after conversations with Trump in which she told him she wanted the job, rather than other potential spots like heading the Department of the Interior or agriculture.
