Fundraising in Sioux Falls City Council race nears $100K
Deffenbaugh, Thomason grow war chests in final days of 2024 municipal election season
The final sprint to next week’s election in Sioux Falls between a former GOP lawmaker and an anti-establishment community planner will flood local media markets.
That’s if the latest round of campaign finance disclosures filed Thursday by Richard Thomason and Jordan Deffenbaugh, who square off Tuesday in a runoff contest for an at-large city council spot, are any indication.
According to filings with the Sioux Falls City Clerk’s Office, the candidates combined to raise nearly $35,000 since April 2. And though the reports don’t provide exact details as to how much was raised or spent ahead of the regular election on April 9 that necessitated the runoff, the extended campaign season has seen a flurry of advertising across mediums that’ll persist through the election.
