For many at Trump rally, there is no plan B
Despite legal challenges, trouble with independents, he's their guy
RAPID CITY – They came from near, they came from far.
They came to see their political star.
Hours before former President Donald Trump arrived in Rapid City on Friday, hundreds lined up outside The Monument arena in what was a festive environment, complete with live music and people hawking Trump shirts of all types, flags and banners. And yes, there were banners with pejoratives directed at the current president.
There were people dressed in American flag jump suits, Statue of Liberty costumes, and if you could think of a patriotic slogan, you’d likely find it on an article of clothing worn by the thousands who attended the rally.
“These people aren’t haters,” said Dane Sencer, pointing to people standing in line next to him. “It’s a cheerful crowd. We want what’s good for America – what’s good for the people.”
