Flight records show Kristi Noem didn't use state plane for Texas dentist appointment
South Dakota's Republican governor still facing civil lawsuit over endorsement video
Gov. Kristi Noem arrived in Texas for an orthodontist appointment by means other than a state-owned airplane.
That’s according to months of flight records obtained by The Dakota Scout. The state’s King Air 350 did not fly to the Houston area, where Smile Texas — a cosmetic dental practice that did work on the governor’s teeth — is based.
After Noem posted a nearly five minute long video to her social media feeds Monday endorsing Smile Texas, Democratic Party officials and state lawmakers urged the Legislature’s Government Operations and Audit Committee (GOAC) — a panel tasked with providing oversight of state government — to investigate whether or not the governor utilized the state plane or state resources to travel to the appointment, potentially violating state law.
Lawmakers on GOAC declined to do so.
