Falls Park prepped for Winter Wonderland, holiday fireworks display
Festive light show kicks off Friday, marks unofficial start to Christmas season in Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls will flip the switch Friday on more than 250 illuminated trees, nearly 100 decorated light poles, and dozens of miles of holiday light strings in its namesake park.
The Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Winter Wonderland begins at 5 p.m. with a lighting celebration, followed by a fireworks display to mark the unofficial start of the holiday season in the metro area.
“For over 20 years, Winter Wonderland has been a holiday season staple in Sioux Falls,” Parks Director Don Kearney said. “We’re always proud to light up The Falls for everyone to enjoy. Every year, Winter Wonderland shines brightly and reflects the joy of the season for eight weeks.”
