The best thing upcoming is a 4th of July non-event, i.e. a taxpayer-financed, Noem-hosted campaign fireworks party for Trump at Mt. Rushmore. [For what it's worth, South Dakota, being the last state to appropriate this federal property to indulge our governor's selfish whims, is not up on the rotation for another 50 years anyway.] The GAO estimated that the cost of that conservative "what's COVID?" celebration was $3,917,289. South Dakota spent $1,120, 315. And that doesn't include the attorney fees wasted on the Consovoy McCarthy, the D.C. firm that handled the frivolous federal lawsuit pressed by Noem with our money. [The initial contract was capped at $150,000, but that didn't include the unsuccessful appeal to the 8th Circuit, which, essentially, mocked the litigation. Trust me, the gang at Consovoy didn't do that pro bono.] The "Executive Office of the President" shelled out $2,372,443 and were "reimbursed" for $2,200,000. Suffice it to say, whatever the total tab, the American taxpayer footed the $2.8 million balance left by South Dakota. Poor Noem. She'll have to continue taking those private jets out of state to campaign for the scumlord-slumlord. Anyway, this non-event at Rushmore is a psychic celebration for which we don't have to pay a goddamn dime.
