Johnson: American ideals of freedom, liberty must lead business decisions
South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson has sent a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook demanding answers about why the tech giant appeared to take steps to hobble protests in China.
Apple limited the use of its AirDrop app in November as protests spread in China following that country’s communist leader, Xi Jinping, accepting an unprecedented third term. Protests grew as China continues to pursue a zero-Covid strategy that calls for strict lockdowns.
Covid emerged in China in late 2019, and the country has continued to require mandatory quarantines while the rest of the world has decided to live with the virus.
