DOC shrugs off code violation notice at men’s prison site
Lincoln County contends state needed demolition permits to raze farm buildings, state disagrees
The state of South Dakota this week took down a series of structures on the site of a $825 million men’s prison without obtaining county demolition permits.
According to the Lincoln County Planning Department, that’s a violation of its code enforcement ordinances requiring property owners get approval before buildings within its jurisdiction can be razed.
