Doane L. Wood, 86, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, March 31, at Miller Funeral Home Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Doane Lee Wood was born January 24, 1939 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Norman and Ruby (Ramharter) Wood. His early years were spent in Sioux Falls, the family moved to Stickney for four years and then returned to Sioux Falls where he attended Washington High School. Doane worked for Sunshine Foods and Hassenstein Steel for two years. He then worked at Sears for 12 years learning the mechanics trade as well as construction with Chet Hofer Construction. Doane purchased Edmunds Brake and Alignment in 1976 which he ran until his retirement in 2006.

On February 8, 1960 he was united in marriage with Jean Everhart. The couple purchased a home and after several years decided to share their love and adopted their two children, DaNiel and Corine.

Doane was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Sioux Valley Cycle Club where he was a lifetime member. He raced dirt-track motorcycles for many years, built race bikes, and helped many others involved in the sport. He also enjoyed trail riding, hunting, and fishing with friends and family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 65 years, Jean Wood; their two children, DaNiel Wood (Stephanie), Norwalk, IA, and Corine (Daniel) Marteloze, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Caitlin, Devin, Bryce, Brianna, and Makayla; several nieces & nephews and his God Daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Barbara Jorgensen.
