Delores Moe, age 94, of Dell Rapids, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Centerville, South Dakota. Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date. Delores was born to Martin and Viola (Falstad) Fodness on February 23, 1930, in Viborg, South Dakota. She attended country school by Dell Rapids and graduated from Trent High School in 1948. Delores began working in the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, MN.
Delores married Paul Moe on September 4, 1949, in the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. She switched career paths and became a licensed practical nurse, working at the Dells Area Community Hospital and Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital. She served the area for 32 years as a nurse. Delores was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids in Ladies Aid and in teaching Sunday School, Bible school, and Junior Luther League for 12 years. Delores was a member of the American Legion auxiliary, active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a circle member, and a Stephen Minister.
Delores loved sewing quilts, crocheting, painting china and porcelain dolls, and rosemaling for her children and grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Paul (Cheryl) Moe, Pam Moe (Bob Schwebach), both of Sioux Falls, Laurel (Gary) Lamb of Dell Rapids, and James (Wendy) Moe of Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sisters: Roselyn (Bob) McClaren of Sioux Falls, Dorothy (Gary) Anderson of Cambridge, MN, and Shirley (Robert) Ellefson of Ankeny, IA; along with numerous friends and relations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, daughter, Sherry Hirmer, parents, and sisters: LaVerne Anderson, Esther Lamping, Violet Sankovitch, Geraldine McFarland, and Audrey Swenson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
