Dan Ahlers tapped to run South Dakota Democratic Party
Former District 25 lawmaker succeeds Berk Ehrmantraut
A former Dell Rapids lawmaker and U.S. Senate candidate will lead day-to-day operations of South Dakota’s minority party.
The South Dakota Democratic Party (SDDP) has hired Dan Ahlers to be its next executive director, taking over for Berk Ehrmantraut, who left the post this spring.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to work for an organization with such a rich history of serving hardworking South Dakotans. From Kneip, Abourezk and McGovern to Daschle, Johnson and Herseth Sandlin to today’s exceptional and talented Democratic state legislators, the South Dakota Democratic Party has been here representing all South Dakotans,” Ahlers said in a statement provided to The Dakota Scout Monday. “I look forward to continuing that legacy by growing our party and ensuring that every South Dakotan’s voice is not only heard, but represented.”
