Country club, former USD cheerleaders settle sexual harassment lawsuits
Women alleged they received unwanted sexual advances from members, manager
A Yankton country club has agreed to settle lawsuits brought by three former cheerleaders who alleged that a manager and members enticed them to drink alcohol and engage in sex parties.
In documents filed Thursday, sisters Asiah and Aliyah Jackson and Hannah Molitor agreed to dismiss their suits against Hillcrest Golf & Country Club. The dismissal followed a settlement conference held earlier in May among the parties.
Seamus Culhane, one of the lawyers who represented the women, said the suits were “resolved amicably,” but could not say more.
The women, who all attended the University of South Dakota, were servers at the country club who alleged separate incidents of unwanted sexual contact with members and the former manager, Adessa Chester. The country club and Chester denied the allegations, with Chester arguing the women consented to the activities that took place at the club.
