Sioux Falls City Council joins state, feds in funding group charged with fostering private sector export deals
A two-year-old nonprofit charged with cultivating international trade deals for South Dakota businesses is getting a boost from Sioux Falls taxpayers.
The Sioux Falls City Council this week approved a special funding proposal that will send $100,000 to South Dakota Trade, a state-backed nonprofit that provides educational training for businesses looking to export products out of the country and brokers deals between South Dakota exporters and international buyers.
“South Dakota Trade has been transformative for many businesses here in Sioux Falls, and the momentum is only growing,” said Councilor Richard Thomason, who carried the special funding request with Councilor David Barranco. “They have already impacted thousands of employees across a number of companies and generated millions in new sales for our community.
