Veterans Community Project first of its kind in South Dakota

The whoosh of a military jet drowns out every other sound on an otherwise calm, spring-like December day. It sends a message of raw power to those craning their necks at a Sioux Falls construction site.
Yes, there’s power in the sky for all to see, but those raising their hammers at the Veterans Community Project know there’s also a lot of power on the ground near the intersection of West and 7th.
S.D. joins suit challenging federal CO2 regulations
David Rieger can feel it. Kaelyn Giefer can feel it, too.
“I work for a lot more than a paycheck every month,” Rieger said. “I’m changing lives, even though I’m only the construction guy.”
The mission is simple enough, said Giefer, the local community engagement coordinator: “Veterans housing veterans with the strength and support of the community.’’
