Minnehaha County Commission hopefuls make case to Rotarians at first public forum

Republican voters in Minnehaha County have a contrast in their choice of candidates vying for two spots up for grabs on the county commission.
And though there’s little in the way of cutting programming or raising or lowering taxes that commissioners on the five-member board have — nearly the entirety of county spending covers services they’re constitutionally obligated to provide, commission candidates in the GOP’s June 4 primary attempted to distinguish themselves from one another during a forum hosted by the Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary Club Monday.
At least when it came to some of the hot-button issues facing the county that came up in the 45-minute long forum: carbon pipelines and the future of the W.H Lyon Fairground.
