Biden's Department of Transportation sending nearly $31M to Indian Country
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg says state's reservations primary beneficiaries of infrastructure grants
Projects on three of South Dakota’s Native American reservations will be the beneficiaries of a Biden Administration program intended to help boost historically disadvantaged areas.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced that four projects in South Dakota, including three on reservations, will be the recipients of grants intended to boost road construction projects on their lands.
“Through President (Joe) Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re funding projects across the country to make roads safer, make it easier for people to move around their community, make transportation infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather, and improve supply chains to keep costs down for consumers,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. Buttigieg came to South Dakota last year to promote Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure legislation and specifically to meet with state tribal leaders about their needs.
