Top law enforcement officer scheduled to meet with Sen. Mike Rounds, tribal chairmen amid criticism of public safety funding
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland extolled the Department of Justice’s relationships with local law enforcement and efforts by federal officials to combat crime in a swing through South Dakota Wednesday.
Garland’s scripted event at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sioux Falls lasted less than minutes before he met privately with more than a dozen local, tribal and federal law enforcement officials.
“These are the people who work every single day to protect the people of this state,” he said.
