Anti-abortion amendment group says no illegal activity in signature removal operation
Department of Criminal Investigation asked to look into South Dakota Petition Integrity Committee
The organizer trying to block a constitutional amendment to legalize abortion in South Dakota says allegations that its volunteers broke the law are “outrageous.”
The South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office called South Dakota Petition Integrity Committee a “scam” Monday, after receiving calls from South Dakotans who said members of the group called them purporting to be with the Secretary’s office. The group was formed by Life Defense Fund co-founder Jon Hansen in an attempt to urge voters to remove their signatures from a petition to put abortion on the November ballot.
