Sanford Health has appointed Andy Munce as president and CEO of its Sioux Falls region, the health system announced Thursday. Munce, a veteran of more than two decades in health care, had been serving as interim president and CEO in addition to his role as chief operating officer.
“Andy has demonstrated exceptional leadership, not only in the past few months while serving in his interim role, but throughout his career at Sanford Health,” said Dr. Mike LeBeau, system vice president of health services operations. “Andy’s deep understanding of our mission—to care, comfort and cure — his commitment to our people and patients, and his strong relationships across the system make him the right leader to guide the Sioux Falls region forward.”
Munce began his career at Sanford in 2004 as a registered nurse in the surgical cardiovascular unit. He has since held several leadership positions at the Sioux Falls medical center, earning recognition for his operational leadership, teamwork and commitment to improving patient outcomes.
“It is an honor to lead the incredible caregivers and dedicated staff in the Sioux Falls region of Sanford Health where we all have the same goal – to deliver the highest quality care to every patient,” Munce said.
He added that the organization would continue to focus on community-based initiatives, including building homes for homeless veterans in partnership with the Veterans Community Project and tackling food insecurity through the Kid’s Kitchen program at Sanford Children’s.
Munce holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing administration, both from South Dakota State University.
