Airport funding in holding pattern at South Dakota Legislature
Rapid City, Sioux Falls aviation campuses slated for expansions; lawmakers asked for more help
PIERRE — Hopes that legislators will chip in more state dollars to help South Dakota’s largest airports expand their terminals are still afloat as the end of their winter lawmaking session nears.
A bill providing grants for airport terminal improvements across South Dakota moved forward this week at the state Capitol, despite continued concerns about less-than-rosy budget forecasts.
The House Appropriations Committee voted 7-2 Thursday to pass Senate Bill 127, which would appropriate funds for airport terminal improvements and expansion throughout the state.
