AG Jackley: No evidence of wrongdoing in anti-abortion telephone campaign
Jackley dispatches concerns that South Dakota Petition Integrity broke state law
A query into whether or not an anti-abortion advocacy organization broke the law when contacting South Dakotans who signed a petition to expand abortion access has been dismissed by the state’s top attorney.
Attorney General Marty Jackley shared that less than 24 hours after he had received a request from the Secretary of State’s office to investigate the recently formed South Dakota Petition Integrity group, his Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) found that the organization did not break the law.
“The DCI investigation acted promptly in reviewing the complaints as well as the scripts used by volunteers,” Jackley said in a press release. “Based on the evidence collected, there is no indication of criminal activity.”
