After four years, Dusty Johnson to get taste of life in the majority
GOP's slim House majority is a first for South Dakota's congressional representative
In August, while speaking to the Greater Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Dusty Johnson made some news, and a prediction.
First, he told the audience that he serves with members of Congress who are so mentally incapacitated that they don’t physically know where they are. It was a blunt assessment of some of the old-timers serving in the House of Representatives.
Then, the Republican Congressman predicted that there would be no “red wave” in the upcoming midterm election. To Republicans hoping for thumping victories in House and Senate races, Johnson’s prediction was a wet blanket.
But it proved accurate. Republicans lost a seat in the Senate. They won a narrow majority in the House rather than the dozens of seats that some had predicted would swing to the GOP.
