4-H's interpretation of 'minors on campus' rule causes strife amongst volunteers
SDSU Extension said waivers before all events required by rule
Most people wouldn’t associate drag shows with sheep shows.
But following the creation of new Board of Regents policies regulating minors on college campuses in response to a “kid-friendly” drag show on one of their campuses, South Dakota State University established a requirement that volunteers in the state 4-H program submit paperwork for each individual event.
Now, amid criticism that the paperwork was onerous, and perhaps even punitive in response to Republican lawmakers moving to regulate adult-oriented events on campus, SDSU is rolling back plans to implement the paperwork requirement.
