3M planning $468 million expansion at Brookings plant
Mayor says city will consider offering incentives for company's investment
The 3M company is planning a major expansion at its Brookings plants that could reach nearly a half a billion dollars.
The Brookings Economic Development Corp. announced Wednesday that the multi-national conglomerate that produces worker safety, healthcare, and consumer goods intends to spend as much as $468 million beefing up its South Dakota operations.
The three-year project will include 16 additional shipping docks, a new 8,000-slot warehouse, 200,000 more square feet of manufacturing space, as well as laboratory and office space.
Brookings Economic Development Corp. CEO Tim Reed said he is thrilled that 3M selected Brookings for this extensive expansion.
