13 recruits headed to South Dakota's first state-run tribal police training

Newly enlisted police officers from three of South Dakota’s Native American tribes will participate in the state’s first-ever tribal law enforcement-specific training session this summer at the state police academy in Pierre.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has announced 13 recruits from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Oglala Sioux Tribe and Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Sioux Tribe will begin a 13-week course on June 3, taught by full-time staff from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and adjunct instructors from law enforcement agencies from across the state.
